91-94 This is also aromatically quite floral in character with its cool array of citrus confit, tidal pool and plenty of mineral reduction nuances. There is outstanding volume and richness to the bigger-bodied and more powerful, but not more refined, flavors that possess a borderline creamy mid-palate, all wrapped in a clean and markedly dry finale that flashes very fine length. I wouldn't describe this as a classic Blanchots yet it 'works' all the same. ... More details

Shows a sunny disposition. Crisp acidity, nice concentration and purity. 'Feminine,' says winemaker Olivier Bailly. A very appealing example but not quite the concentration for a Grand Cru? All fermented and matured in steel tanks. From a small plot at the top of Blanchot, separated by the road from Les Clos.
Winery
Bright and clear with a golden-green hue and attractive sheen. The refined and delicate nose discloses floral notes such as acacia and lime blossom and a touch of citrus fruit. The palate is dense, round and rich with an aromatic bouquet characterized by toasty notes and dried fruits. The finish is long, taut and very mineral.

Varietal: Chardonnay

There are few white wine grape varietals as famous or widely appreciated as the Chardonnay, and with good reason. This highly flexible and adaptable grape quickly became a favorite of wineries due to its fairly neutral character. This neutrality allows the wineries to really show off what they are capable of doing, by allowing features of their terroir or aging process to come forward in the bottle. As well as this, most high quality wineries which produce Chardonnay wines take great efforts to induce what is known as malolactic fermentation, which is the conversion of tart malic acids in the grapes to creamy, buttery lactic acids associated with fine Chardonnay. Whilst the popularity of Chardonnay wines has fluctuated quite a considerable amount over the past few decades, it seems the grape varietal allows enough experimentation and versatility for it always to make a successful comeback.

Region: Burgundy

The wines which come out of the Burgundy region of France are regularly hailed as amongst the finest in the world, with the area now being synonymous with quality red wines of exceptional flavor, character and aroma. However, Burgundy is no newcomer to the world of fine wines, with the earliest recordings of the quality of this region's produce dating back to the 6th century, and archaeological evidence suggesting that vineyards had been cultivated there for over two thousand years. Today, there are dozens of controlled appellations within Burgundy, each producing exceptional wines typical of the region. The whole area benefits greatly from hot summers and mild, long autumnal periods, which, when coupled with the generations of expertise of the wineries in Burgundy, consistently produces superb wines for the world's enjoyment.

Country: France

French winemakers are subjected to several laws and regulations regarding the wines they produce, and how they can be labeled and sold. Such procedures are designed to increase the overall quality of the country's produce, and also to ensure that wines made in each particular region or appellation are of a character and type which is representative of the area. Thankfully for consumers of wine world-wide, the French have a particularly high reputation to uphold, and seem to do so flawlessly. Every year, wineries from all over France produce millions upon millions of bottles of fine wine, making the most of their native grape varieties and the excellent terrain which covers most of the country. From the expensive and exquisite red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy, to the white wines and cremants of central France, the French are dedicated to providing the world with wines of the highest quality and most distinctive character.
