Bold and spiced on the nose, with suggestions of cinnamon, fenugreek, cedar, and a mélange of dried orchard fruits. The spiced motif endures on the palate, with additional layers of toasted oak and vanilla that carry through to a long, peppery finish. - 2023 Ultimate Spirits Challenge ... More details

With some time in the glass, a pronounced vanilla aroma comes forward. The silky palate opens with allspice and cinnamon roar, evolving into warming espresso, cocoa sweetness and a coconut fade braced up with clove and faint citrusy acidity.

The nose is spiced—cinnamon, allspice, clove, pepper—and rich with cooked fruit—blueberry jam, stewed plums, pomegranate molasses—as well as roasted peanuts, vanilla, and oak. In the mouth, there’s more liveliness, with Big Red gum, cherry pie, blackberry cobbler, peanuts, and cinnamon-apple coffee cake. It wraps up beautifully, with chili-chocolate, roasted nuts, and cigar end. Kentucky Owl doesn’t disclose the ages of the bourbons used in this bottling, but the balance of maturity on the nose and verve on the palate work to excellent effect. - Fall 2019
Winery
The name “Confiscated” pays homage to a warehouse of Kentucky Owl barrels lost in 1916. On the eve of Prohibition, utilizing the growing strength of the temperance movement, the government seized over $40 million of bourbon from then-Master Blender C.M. Dedman. Between the siezed stock and the damaging effects of Prohibition, Kentucky Owl faded into obscurity. Almost a century later, Dedman’s great-great-grandson, Master Blender Dixon Dedman, brought the brand back to life, and it was these long-gone barrels that inspired his latest release.

Country: United States

Of all the New World wine countries, perhaps the one which has demonstrated the most flair for producing high quality wines - using a combination of traditional and forward-thinking contemporary methods - has been the United States of America. For the past couple of centuries, the United States has set about transforming much of its suitable land into vast vineyards, capable of supporting a wide variety of world-class grape varietals which thrive on both the Atlantic and the Pacific coastlines. Of course, we immediately think of sun-drenched California in regards to American wines, with its enormous vineyards responsible for the New World's finest examples of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot based wines, but many other states have taken to viticulture in a big way, with impressive results. Oregon, Washington State and New York have all developed sophisticated and technologically advanced wine cultures of their own, and the output of U.S wineries is increasing each year as more and more people are converted to their produce.
