A beauty, this is all silk and finesse. Still, there is adequate structure underneath to support the vibrant cherry, berry, floral and spice flavors. A lingering impression of oak spice and latent mineral marks the finale. Best from 2020 through 2036. 112 cases made, 22 cases imported. ... More details

92-95 An intensely floral nose that is less expressive but more elegant displays an attractive sense of freshness to the high-toned red berry, earth, game and softly oaky aromas. The seductively textured, concentrated and mouth coating broad-shouldered flavors possess evident muscularity on the robust, intense and hugely long finish where a discreet touch of wood surfaces. This very firmly structured effort is presently almost rustic and this too will demand extended cellaring if you wish to see its full potential revealed.

Dark, bright red. Musky dark raspberry, crushed stone and flowers on the nose. Surprisingly plush and sweet on entry, then juicy and penetrating in the middle, showing strong menthol and mineral reserve. Tannins clamp down on the finish, which echoes and resounds with purple fruits and flowers. This juicy, penetrating, youthfully tight wine will need long aging.

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Regularly described as being the grape varietal responsible for producing the world's most romantic wines, Pinot Noir has long been associated with elegance and a broad range of flavors The name means 'black pine' in French, and this is due to the fact that the fruit of this particular varietal is especially dark in color, and hangs in a conical shape, like that of a pine cone. Despite being grown today in almost every wine producing country, Pinot Noir is a notoriously difficult grape variety to cultivate. This is because it is especially susceptible to various forms of mold and mildew, and thrives best in steady, cooler climates. However, the quality of the fruit has ensured that wineries and vintners have persevered with the varietal, and new technologies and methods have overcome many of the problems it presents. Alongside this, the wide popularity and enthusiasm for this grape has ensured it will remain a firm favorite amongst wine drinkers for many years to come.

Region: Burgundy

There are few more famous wine regions in the world than Burgundy, and this special area has given much to raise the profile of fine French wines around the world. Although most commonly associated with excellent quality red wines made with the Pinot Noir varietal, this region is home to several red and white varietals and produces and impressive range of wines, from still to sparkling, dry to sweet, full bodied and aged, and from to light and drinkable. The region of Burgundy has been producing excellent wines for centuries, with much evidence to suggest that the ancient Gauls were the first to cultivate the native vines which flourish here in the warm summers, and on the excellent soil fed by local rivers. This type of heritage has led to a wine industry highly unique, deeply traditional, and with an exquisite reputation to uphold.

Country: France

French winemakers are subjected to several laws and regulations regarding the wines they produce, and how they can be labeled and sold. Such procedures are designed to increase the overall quality of the country's produce, and also to ensure that wines made in each particular region or appellation are of a character and type which is representative of the area. Thankfully for consumers of wine world-wide, the French have a particularly high reputation to uphold, and seem to do so flawlessly. Every year, wineries from all over France produce millions upon millions of bottles of fine wine, making the most of their native grape varieties and the excellent terrain which covers most of the country. From the expensive and exquisite red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy, to the white wines and cremants of central France, the French are dedicated to providing the world with wines of the highest quality and most distinctive character.
