This 'little brother of Perrières' is one of the signatures of Girardin. It is produced from 50% Narvaux Dessous, 30% Gorge de Narvaux and 20% Chaume de Narvaux; each picked separately, with Dessous being the first and Chaume last as it is the coldest. This has an enchanting nose of ginger, white pepper and wood spice, while there is plenty of extract here and a powerful structure. A marvellous wine for its level. ... More details

90-92 The 2019 Meursault Les Narvaux comes from three parcels, two owned by Girardin and the third purchased grapes. Taken from barrel, it has a backward, tightly wound bouquet with touches of vervain tea infusing the citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced, offering mandarin and apricot on the entry. Good weight and decent freshness here, even if it is missing the je ne sais quoi of this vineyard's finest exponents.

Aromatic and well-defined, this white reveals lemon and apple flavors, with flourishes of vanilla and baking spice. Though vibrant and precise, this has a harmonious, elegant feel, too. Nutty finish. Drink now through 2027. 530 cases made, 300 cases imported.

89-91 Here too a discreet dollop of wood sets off notes of hazelnut, pear, floral scents and a touch of cool lemon-lime. There is again fine volume and excellent intensity to the mineral-suffused medium-bodied flavors that aren't quite as refined but offer almost as much depth and persistence. Worth checking out.
Winery
A flattering wine, nicely balanced with white flower aromas, a nose of almond and a long finish. A wine with an opulent aromatic register, which when young is mainly oriented towards flint. Lively mouth full of complexity, a very elegant wine. It is one of the best climates in Meursault village.

green grapes

Varietal: Chardonnay

In the past couple of decades, the sales of wines made with Chardonnay grapes has risen and fallen more than once. For many people, this green skinned grape was marred by a poor reputation for bland and uninteresting wines, a great shame considering the fact that Chardonnay grapes have proven time and time again to be interesting, versatile and full of surprises. Most commonly, fine Chardonnay wines are buttery, smooth and creamy as a result of malolactic fermentation, yet with hints of tropical fruits and orchard fruits such as apples and pears. What is most remarkable about Chardonnay grapes, however, is the fact that unlike many other 'white' grapes, they are exceptionally good at holding the characteristics of their terroir in the bottle. As such, despite their fluctuating reputation, this is one grape varietal which produces constantly surprising, impressive and varied wines.

Region: Burgundy

The beautiful region of Burgundy in France is famously home to some of the most exquisite red wines to be found anywhere on earth, and is most commonly associated with the silky, elegant and flavorful Pinot Noir varietal wines which are commonly produced there. However, the superb and mineral rich soils fed by the Rhone river, and the long hot summers and mild autumns of the region produce a wide variety of fine grapes, and as such, Burgundy produces plenty of different wines which are equally as good as the produce the region is famed for. The region of Burgundy itself has a wine-making history which stretches back at least two thousand years, and as such, it comes as no surprise that the wineries which fill the dozens of controlled appellations of the region rely heavily on traditional methods and techniques when it comes to producing their famous wines.

Country: France

It is widely understood and accepted that the finest wines in the world come out of France. Whether you are drinking a vintage bottle from one of the famed Grand Cru wineries of Bordeaux - such as Chateau Margaux or Chateau Lafite-Rothschild - or a more simple and affordable bottle from one of the lesser known appellations in Burgundy, the likelihood is that the wine is packed full of intense and interesting flavors, and has a fine, balanced structure typical of almost all French produce. This reputation for excellence is taken extremely serious by the French, with dozens of regularly updated laws and regulations ensuring the quality and accurate labeling of wines. Such dedication and passion for fine wine, representative of the region in which it is produced, means customers can be assured that when they buy a bottle from France, they are buying something almost certain to please and delight.

Appellation: Cote De Beaune

The stunning and historic appellations of Cote De Beaune in France date back centuries, and are a vitally important center for the fine French wine industry. Located in the southern half of the Cote d'Or, Cote De Beaune is widely renowned for producing what are said to be some of the finest white wines in the world. Indeed, the Chardonnay grapes which flourish in the beautiful climatic conditions of Cote De Beaune ripen fully after the hot summers, and contain an impressive array of flavors and aromas, as well as many of the best features of the superb terroir they grow on. Pinot Noir is the region's other key grape varietal, and the red wines of Cote De Beaune are also considered to be of a very high quality indeed.
