90-91 Faiveley's communal-level bottling, a blend of Agrillats and Lavières, has been rechristened as the 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Montroziers, in honor of Maurice Colrat de Montrozier, French statesman and great uncle of Guy and Yvonnes Faiveley. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet raspberries, plums and peonies, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and perfumed, with a lively core of fruit underpinned by succulent acids.

88-91 A discreet application of wood sets off slightly riper aromas of most red berry liqueur, the sauvage and earth. There is fine richness to the caressing medium weight flavors that possess fine length on the mildly rustic and lightly stony finish that is firm enough to need 6 to 10 years to fully resolve. This is also very good yet not especially austere and thus could easily be enjoyed young.
Winery
Intense garnet red hue and aromas of fruit, oak and spice on the nose. The palate reveals a smooth, rich attack, velvety tannins and good balance. A delicate, seductive and very elegant wine. Serve with: Duck breasts with grape sauce, fillet of deer.

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir grapes have been cultivated in and around the Burgundy region of France for centuries, where they have long been favored by vintners for their wide range of flavors, their thin skins and for producing wines which have light, smooth tannins, and a beautiful garnet red color Whilst they remain one of the flagship varietals of this special region, their wide popularity and recent status as a fashionable 'romantic' varietal has led to them being planted in almost every wine producing country in the world. However, the Pinot Noir demands a huge amount of care and attention from the wineries that wish to grow it, as this varietal is particularly susceptible to various forms of mildew and rot. Despite this, the grape is otherwise a favorite with wineries for the fact that it requires little extra effort once it begins fermentation. Pinot Noir is also widely known for producing some of the world's most famous sparkling wines, being one of two key grapes for the production of Champagne, and several other sparkling varieties.
