In terms of power and intensity, this is always the highest-flying wine in the Domenico Clerico lineup. The 2014 Barolo Aeroplan Servaj reaches those altitudes thanks to the quality of the fruit, all sourced from the Baudana vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba where some of the most powerful Barolos are born. The wine is solid and decisive in personality, imparting long-lasting flavors of dark berry, spice, moist earth and freshly shaved truffle. You feel that intensity grow, especially as the wine washes over the palate in thick waves. The tannins are dry and solid. Smoky and meaty with cherry and bark aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, chewy and very rich with lots of fruit on the finish. Drink in 2021.

The 2014 Barolo Aeroplan Serve is the richest of the Clerico 2014s. Then again, that is Serralunga. Succulent dark cherry, plum, chocolate, spice and leather add gorgeous shades of nuance, but above all else, the Aeroplan Serve is a wine of textural softness and silkiness. Accordingly, it will drink well with minimal cellaring.

Nebbiolo grapes have been grown for centuries in the hilly region of northern Italy, and have more recently started to appear in many New World countries, too, where modern vintners have expressed great enthusiasm for their fine characteristics. Their fame and popularity is widely known, and the Nebbiolo varietal is recognized as the grape responsible for producing the legendary fine wines of Italy.
