93-95 The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is beautiful, bursting with aromas of sweet raspberries and plums mingled with rose petals, blood orange and subtle notions of lavender and potpourri. Full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's deep and layered, with a multidimensional core of fruit, supple tannins and a saline finish.

92-95 A more discreet if still easily perceptible dollop of wood can be found on the more deeply pitched aromas of poached plum, forest floor and a more subtle hint of the sauvage. The super-sleek, intense and beautifully textured medium weight flavors exude evident minerality on the powerful, youthfully austere and beautifully balanced finale that displays excellent length. One to look for.

Since their 2013 purchase of Domaine Dupont-Tisserandot, Faiveley is by far the largest landowner in this top-quality premier cru, with its steep incline and thin soils shielded from the cool of the Combe de Lavaux. In 2022, it delivered a marvellous wine, impressively substantial with the abundant tannic grip and depth to compliment the lovely cherry fruit and fresh floral notes with a hint of citrus on the nose. This wine will open nicely after three to five years and should drink well for 20 years.

91-93 The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has more presence than the Lavaux Saint-Jacques, yet there remains something introverted about this cuvée; it's a bit stoic at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. It's a little richer than the Lavaux, with more backbone, raspberry and wild strawberry laced with white pepper and clove, leading to a satisfying, cohesive finish. Enjoy over the next 12 to 15 years.

Deep ruby red hue with an intense and complex nose characterised by red fruits, toast and subtle roasted notes. The palate is rich and round with a firm structure and direct tannins. This remarkably powerful wine offers a silky mouthfeel and exceptional length. Serve with: Duck breast with blackcurrant, rabbit and prune stew.
