All Grenache from the sandy soils of Pignan (Nord), with élevage in stainless steel, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Secrets de Pignan is a prodigious effort. Boasting bombastic aromas of black cherries, licorice and black olives, this full-bodied wine is concentrated and rich and needs additional time in the bottle, as it's marked by dusty tannins on the lingering finish.

A very impressive Chateauneuf with stunning damson plum fruit, also delicate notes of savory and smoke. Although this has a huge structure the wine doesn’t feel a jot too big thanks to the excellent concentration. So much savory and earthy depth at the long finish. 100% grenache from century old vines growing on sandy soil. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Secrets de Pignan is full-bodied and expressive. Solely made from old Grenache vines, which saw 18 months in stainless steel tanks, this wine displays jammy red fruits, dried herbs, licorice and white pepper undertones. Although this 2020 red feels round and complete, there is a touch of heat from the elevated alcohol on the bold finish.
Winery
Intense purple wine. Very complex nose of bursting with sunshine fruits, sweet spices, scrubland and humus. The matter, marked by delicate tannins although solids, intense and ripe offer fruity one. Finale reveals a surprising length endowed with peppered notes. Wine with a lot of roundness and dept with a typical « old vine » tanin structure.

Region: Rhone Valley

There are few wine regions in the world with a history as long and illustrious as that of the Rhone Valley in France. For over two thousand years, wines have been produced in this region, benefited by the excellent, mineral-rich soils of the region, and the varied climate which allows a wide range of grape varietals to grow. The Rhone Valley is now split into two quite separate regions, with the north part being characterized by its cooler, continental climate and the limited number of grape varietals grown, and the southern sub-region being perfect for growing a wide range of grapes, and producing an exciting number of different wine styles. The Rhone Valley is associated with elegant, flavorful wines, and certain grape varietals such as Viognier and Syrah, which are adept at expressing the finer features of their terroir.
