Subtle aromas of black cherries, tar, mushrooms, black truffles and dark earth. Medium- to full-bodied with refined and linear tannins that give tension and focus to the wine. Delicate finish. From organically grown grapes. Lovely now. Drink or hold.

The organic Castello di Bossi 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva Berardo is 100% Sangiovese aged in botte for two years, followed by one year in bottle. Fruit comes from a site at 300 meters in elevation characterized by dark clay soils. These conditions add extra richness that comes forth as spice and cinnamon over dried cassis, blackberry and dried herb. This is a release of 60,000 bottles.
Winery
This riserva has a luminous ruby red color. Appealing aromas of dark cherries, plums, sweet spice, violets, vanilla and hints of dark chocolate and menthol emerge on the nose. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied but smooth with an almost creamy mouthfeel. Tannins are well integrated with the alcohol, and lead to a subtly sweet, silky finish.

Sangiovese qualifies as one of the truly ancient grape varietals of the Old World, and whilst it is now grown in several countries across the globe, it very much remains a classic grape of Italian wine making.
